‘Moonrise Melodics’

This piece showcases my love of the peaceful, soothing sounds that flutes make and the way their notes remind me of how it feels to listen to dolphins whistling. I’m fascinated by the similarities between dolphin whistles and the sounds different flutes can produce- both produce high frequency sounds, with similar acoustic parameters and tonal quality. There are even cases where it appears that dolphins respond to the sounds of a flute, seemingly attracted to their high frequencies. I like the idea that music could potentially be a ‘gateway language’ between us and dolphins. Either way, both humans and dolphins seem to enjoy these instruments and that, in itself draws a connection between us.
